WATER
Have you ever wondered how to rehydrate 480 ration packs? The answer comes from converting seawater using the desalination unit installed in the boat. It is powered by the solar panels onboard and capable of converting 30 litres of saltwater per hour.
This is our only means of fresh water and survival at sea. If it fails we will have to rely on the back up hand pump which is only capable of purifying less than 1 litre each hour and will have to be pumped in between rowing shifts.
ANDY HODGSON
Hometown:
Frimley
Andy is an experienced coastal rower and world record holder as the first person to row solo around Britain. He now uses his knowledge of the coast to help other teams on their adventures.

Andy is the practical one, able to bodge and repair almost anything. He knows ocean rowing boats inside and out. When he's not on a rowing shift, he'll be making sure that the onboard systems keep running until the pair make it to the Caribbean.

Andy also drinks a lot of coffee and is the crew member most likely to sleep through his alarm... or a hurricane!

ROSALIND CHASTON
Hometown:
Oxford
Rosalind is rarely out of the water, she is a keen ocean swimmer and on land you'll find her either on a rugby pitch or climbing pitch half way up a rock face. Rosalind's love of outdoor environments extends to her studies of ocean and atmospheric physics at UCL.

Ros is the organised one, her attention to detail and team management will make sure that the pair make it to the start line on time. When she's not on a rowing shift, she's eager to bring the theoretical concepts she studied to practical use on the ocean.

Rosalind is also the fun one and the crew member most likely to be found singing along to an ABBA medley whilst surfing 20ft waves or plotting a mutiny.
Height:
5 ft 4" (fun size!)
Days at Sea:
23 days and counting
Most looking forward to:
Spotting dolphins and whales!
